For as different as vinyl, fiberglass, aluminum, and glass are, you wouldn’t think they have many similarities but all require complex and intense manufacturing processes and depletable natural resources. However, only glass and aluminum remain fully recyclable with minimal environmental impact in the recycling process, whereas vinyl and fiberglass require additional input from the gas and oil industry.
Environmentally, the impact of recycling is incredible. Recycling saves enough energy to provide electricity to 1.4 million homes every year, reduces water pollution by 27,047 tons, and also reduces air pollution. Recycling a typical aluminum and glass window can save enough electricity to power a computer for over half an hour!
